Detroit casino revenue down again in November
November 2022's total revenue of $108.2 million and October's total revenue of $102.8 million were both down from this year, according to data compiled by MGM Grand Detroit, MotorCity Casino, and Hollywood Casino in Greektown.
Revenue for the month came to $99.9m from slots and table games, which is a decrease of 3.8% compared to last year. The remaining $1.9m was made up of qualified adjusted gross receipts (QAGR) from retail sports betting, which is a decrease of 57.0% compared to last year.
The total handle for sports betting for the month came to $18.1m, a decrease of 32.2% from $26.7m in November 2021.
Casino revenue
MotorCity came in second with 30% and Hollywood Casino third with 23% of the market, while MGM maintained its commanding 47% stake.
Revenue for the month totalling $46.7m was generated by slots and table games for MGM, while $807,913 came from sports betting QAGR.
Hollywood Casino made $23.2 million from slots and table games and $313,884 from sports betting QAGR, whereas MotorCity made $30.0 million from slots and table games and $741,222 from sports betting QAGR.
During the month, the casinos forked over $8.1 million to the state of Michigan in gaming taxes and $12.4 million to the city of Detroit in wagering taxes and development agreement payments.
Another thing that the venues paid out was $163,625 in retail sports betting taxes to the City of Detroit and $70,422 in retail sports betting gaming taxes to the State.
